"Whether
we are happy or sad, whether we are healthy or sick,
whether we are rich or poor depends on whether we use
or misuse our mind" - Dr. Pon, Founder,
Inner Universe.
“God hides
things from us by keeping them very close to our
eyes,” is traditional Indian wisdom. Many times
you might have experienced the fact that we can be
happy by simply re-living our happy moments and we
can be unhappy by simply reliving our unhappy
moments. That’s proof that it is our thoughts that
makes us happy or unhappy and not the events.
Events may
not be under our control but thoughts are always
under our control. If thoughts decide our
happiness and sadness and if thoughts are under our
control, then naturally it is we who decide
whether to be happy or to be sad.
No one is
born with a smoking habit or with a drinking
habit. Somewhere he succumbs to peer pressure or
media pressure and gets hooked to nicotine
and alcohol and ultimately develops lung cancer or
liver damage. But for every person who yields to
temptation, there are two persons who resist the
temptation and enjoy a long and healthy life.
That’s proof that it is we who decide to be
healthy or to become sick.
Most of the
people want to enjoy as much comforts as possible,
the moment they start earning. They buy a car on
loan, consumer durables on loan, a vacation on
loan, literally enjoying so many comforts which
they don’t need or couldn’t afford. Result, there
is absolutely no savings, only borrowings. And
they lead a life of financial misery despite
having good jobs and decent remuneration. Whereas
a few people save as much as possible, sacrificing
their comforts. This tiny savings, over a period
of time becomes mighty investments and start
earning for them handsomely, enabling them to
enjoy all the comforts without taking loans. And
these people lead a life of financial prosperity.
Once again, whether to become rich or remain poor
is in our hands.
