National Aptitude test for Engineering admissions from 2017

12/11/2016

The HRD Ministry is giving a final shape for bringing in changes in the current format of the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). The main aim is to standardize the entrance test and bring an end to the influence of coaching institutes associated with the JEE. As per reports, National Aptitude Test (NAT) is being introduced to replace JEE Main from 2017 for admission to engineering colleges across the country.

National Aptitude Test for Engineering Admissions

National Aptitude Test in lines of SAT

With the introduction of a compulsory National Aptitude Test (NAT) for aspirants i.e. a single common entrance test, major changes in the admission process for IITs and NITs would be made. The proposed national aptitude test will be held on the lines of SAT conducted in the United States for admission to different colleges.

The JEE, which is being conducted in two tiers i.e. JEE Main and JEE Advanced, will be re-designed into a single common entrance exam. The proposed NAT (National Aptitude Test) will serve as the first phase of selecting the candidates for the next level of the test.
